Wow. They actually got Paul Frees to do the narration. Impressive!

I watched on SNL when I was in 5th grade. I remember laughing at “I can’t understand what youre saying” bla bla bla “are you talking to me” I must have forgotten “Basketball is a peaceful planet!”

I remember watching this in junior high. Thought that Ham Salad and the Tractor Beam were the funniest thing since sliced toast.
Now this seems like a humorless piece of crap.

“Darph Nader, Naughty Person!”
This is hands-down the funniest Star Wars parody ever done. Which is pretty sad when you think about how much more money Mel Brooks spent on Spaceballs…

I remember watching that on OnTV back in 1981.They would show it right before Star Wars.I was maybe 5 or 6.Great memories.

My brother and I first saw this soon after the real Star Wars came out. This would have been about 1978. I was 11 years old and we laughed our heads off. 31 years later and I am still laughing!!

Hey, at our age, nothing is as funny as we remember it! They don’t make shit like this anymore, and I feel fortunate to have been a part of that time period…

You’re right it was on HBO. I remember watching it in ’79-’80. I didn’t have HBO before that so if it was ’78, they were still showing it a year or two later.
I haven’t seen it since then probably either, and I’m happy to find out it’s still funny.
And to whoever posted this, thank you!!!!!

The greatest parody of all-time. I still have this recorded on my Betamax and VHS tapes from back in the Stone Age.

The first time I saw this was via my friend’s 16mm print. Such a classic. One of the things I love about this is that the late, great voice-actor Paul Frees (a/k/a Boris Boris Badenov, and thousands of others) is your friendly narrator.

I remember laughing my butt off at this when I was about 11 yrs. old. Not nearly as funny at 42, but still worth a few chuckles. (“Nah, you go on without me. I’ll be all right. Don’t worry about me.”)
