In this model you have the dedicated ATI graphics card. I heard that you are able to switch between the ATI dedicated graphics card and the Intel graphics media accelerator based on whether the unit is on battery power or plugged in. (You would use the Intel graphics media accelerator to save battery power when the unit is not plugged in and use the ATI graphics card when the unit is plugged in) Is this true and if so how do you switch between them?

Hey, thank you for this review. Is it possible to make a short video of using HP Touchsmart TM2 outdoors? Some people out there says it is absolutely useless when trying to operate outdoors (because of the glossy screen)

What country are you in? As far as I know these things are available all over North America and Europe.
You really don’t want a tx2. I have a tx2 and while it was a decent machine the tm2 is MUCH better. Especially when it comes to heat and noise. The tm2 simply doesn’t produce much heat or noise unlike the tx2.

Good follow up points and thanks for the kind words.

@unitedmesa From what I’ve read, 7 hours is realistic, with wifi off, brightness down etc. The official 9.7 is as usual a, let’s say, “optimistic” estimate.

Thanks a lot for this great video! It shows off the strengths of the tm2 really well. I was a bit worried about the screen, but from what I see I think it will be fine for me.
Just two quick remarks though: First on the audio jack, this is a combined mic/audio out jack (featuring a 4 pin output) so in principle one can connect a normal set- needs some kind of splitter though and I have not found one yet.
Second, I think one should stress that “home” etc keys are still there, as “fcn+up” etc.

2 – in order to set the view properly, you can start the magnifier program in windows 7. set it to full-screen at 100 percent, and the click on “invert colors”. the keyboard shortcut for this is control/shift/I
thank you very much; your review is greatly appreciated!!

1 – thank you for the review. one hold up for me is the glossy screen…since i often use black backgrounds with white text. can you tell me how the black levels are? how much of a difference do u see with the led backlight versus the lcd backlight of the tx2?? and finally, could you by chance tell me if there is any issues with reflections when viewing this in low light settings with the black backgrounds?

From what I’m hearing Photoshop runs fine on the base configuration model.
